Who are some good foreign authors?

So I am 16 and I am in a honors enlish class and we have an assignment where we have to find a foreign author and read their book or it can be set in a foreign place, but if it is set in foreign place I would prefer Greece or Paris. The book has to be at least 200 pages I would prefer 300 at the most I like authors such as Chris Crutcher, Nora Roberts, and Ben Sherwood. I am also into romance or mystery and sometimes comedy I would prefer that is easy to find because I live in a very small town and our library is not that great thanks!
